The munich_i Hightech Summit is the highlight of the automatica’s support program and will be held on June 22, 2022. Under the theme of ‘intelligence empowering tomorrow’, leading international technology drivers along with pioneers from science and industry will present their innovations, findings, and megatrends regarding the interaction between human and artificial intelligence, and responsible technological change. On April 7, 2022, the biannual meeting of the Industry Advisory Board (IAB) with the Science Board took place in the interim premises of MIRMI at Georg-Brauchle-Ring. A total of over 30 participants from industry and the MIRMI community learned about the MIRMI highlights of the past 6 months, the concepts for new "Innovation Sectors" in the field of Environment and Mobility in MIRMI as well as the latest technological and political developments in the field. In its April 06, 2022 issue, the renowned Süddeutsche Zeitung tells the story and projects of Rafael Hostettler, founder of the robotics company Devanthro and external researcher at the TUM Chair of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Real-Time Systems. Hostettler adopted Roboy, a humanoid robot with ten fingers and ten toes. Roboy can be controlled via telepresence with virtual reality goggles. Roboy aims to solve the nursing shortage and enable the researcher to live after death. Devanthro recently moved into the Munich Urban Colab. [read more]

Following many years of research at the Technical University of Munich, the start-up Ebenbuild GmbH aims to fundamentally improve the mechanical ventilation of ICU patients with ARDS and drive significant, long-term improvements in treatment outcomes. The company develops personalized simulation models of patients’ lungs using patient data, such as medical images. These Digital Twins allow doctors to make sound treatment decisions by accurately picturing how mechanical ventilation will affect individual patients. Sometimes tools can serve different purposes. Last weekend GARMI, the service robot developed to care for elderly people, handed over trophies to the winners of the 2022 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup - Women to avoid COVID-19 contagions. MIRMI will support the kick-off of innovative research projects via Seed Funds. The MIRMI Seed-Funds aim to stimulate new collaborations within MIRMI by supporting collaborative projects in the field of robotics and machine intelligence. Successful projects will receive funds for up to two (post)doctoral researchers (E13 50%) for up to six months duration. The plan is to hold a seed funding round every 6 months.
