For the first time, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Robotics Institute Germany (RIG) will appear together at automatica. Under the umbrella of the high-tech platform munich_i, the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) will present around 25 demonstrations – ranging from a mobile environmental lab and exosuits to AI-based orientation aids for the visually impaired.
Key focus areas include geriatronics and the KI.Fabrik for robotics in manufacturing, complemented by startups from MIRMI’s incubator robo.innovate. On the RIG STAGE, researchers and industry representatives will discuss topics such as environment, mobility, health, work, and talent development.
The munich_i Hightech Summit on June 24 will bring together leading international researchers and companies like Honda, Google, Meta, and Continental. The highlight of the event is the Robothon 2025, where eight teams from four countries will develop robotics solutions for electronic waste disposal, competing for a total prize of 10,000 euros.
“At automatica, we showcase the full spectrum of robotics and AI – from practical demos and a robotics competition to presentations, panel discussions, and a high-level international conference. It’s a great mix,” says Prof. Lorenzo Masia, Executive Director of MIRMI.
