IROS is a large and impactful forum for the international robotics research community to explore the frontier of science and technology in intelligent robots and smart machines, emphasizing future directions and the latest approaches, designs, and outcomes. The theme of IROS 2023 is “The Next Generation of Robotics,” so the conference aims to particularly highlight the contributions of younger researchers and to help accelerate the future contributions of all those just entering the field. This will be reflected in plenary and keynote talks, workshops, tutorials, forums, competitions, exhibitions, tours, and technical sessions.

Participating MIRMI members
- Formal methods techniques in robotics systems: Design and control the workshop is taking place on the 01. October 2023 MIRMI members Abdalla Swikir, Fares Abu-Dakka, Sami Haddadin, Gitta Kutyniok, Wolfram Burgard, Majid Zamani and Necmiye Ozay organized the workshop. The aim of this workshop is to bring together experts, from formal methods, control theory, AI, and robotics, as a means to examine current research on how to successfully build intelligent robots, allowing for safe interactions and precise maneuvers. As well as building a roadmap toward a sound and unified theoretical basis for using formal methods in addressing elaborated robotics problems that require safe, accurate, and implementable solutions.
- Geriatronics: AI and Robotics for Health & Well-Being in Older Age will take place on the 01. October 2023. This planned workshop aims to bring to light the current and envisioned robotic solutions in the context of Geriatronics and to raise awareness among policy-makers with respect to the technology to address recent challenges. MIRMI organizers are Luis Figueredo, Abdeldjallil Naceri, Waldez Gomes, Sylvain Calinon, Ayse Kucukyilmaz, Praminda Caleb-Solly, Hinrich Schütze, Emmanuel Senft and Sami Haddadin.
- Learning Meets Model-based Methods for Manipulation and Grasping with Raffaello Camoriano, Cristina Piazza, Giuseppe Averta, Lorenzo Natale, Carlo Masone. The 1st International Workshop “Learning Meets Model-based Methods for Manipulation and Grasping” will take place as part of IEEE/RSJ IROS 2023 on October 5th, 2023 in Detroit, USA.
