Prof. Matthias Althoff presents a software module for autonomous vehicles
Community, TUM Press Release |
The new software for autonomous vehicles records vehicle sensor data and evaluated every millisecond to predict events while driving. This calculation leads to the use of possible avoidance maneuvers, which ensure that no accidents are caused by autonomous vehicles.
The Research was funded by the BMW Group's CAR@TUM project, the Ko-HAF project (Cooperative Highly Automated Driving) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the German Research Foundation DFG. MSRM-member Prof. Althoff states that the new security software could simplify the development of autonomous vehicles because it can be combined with all standard motion control programs.
