Geriatronics Summit Summer School 2025

Following the success of the first three Geriatronics Summits, we - the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) of the Technical University of Munich with our cooperation partners from ENSTA Paris, Caritas, the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Munich (KSH Munich) and the German Museum - invite you to participate in the Geriatronics Summer School from July 7 to 10, 2025 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Summer School 2025 aims to bring together robotics and AI researchers and care professionals to foster collaborative work and address pressing challenges in the care of older people. This year's School places a strong emphasis on collaboration, knowledge sharing and hands-on engagement to foster meaningful interdisciplinary interactions.

Review of the Geriatronics Summit 2024
The world as a guest in Garmisch-Partenkirchen: For the upcoming two-day event of cutting-edge research against an impressive mountain backdrop, this headline was not overstated. The two organizers - the Geriatronics Research Center of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Caritas Association of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising e.V. - put together an impressive program for the Geriatronics Summit 2024.
For the third time, the successful conference brought together researchers from Bavaria, Germany and around the world from the fields of AI and robotics with care providers and stakeholders in the field of care for older adults and people with disabilities. The aim of all Geriatronics Summits is to share knowledge and experience to enable a better future for us all. Discussions and the exchange of ideas on AI and robotics in healthcare are expressly encouraged. The focus is on how to address the challenges of supporting, caring for and improving the wellbeing of older people in a safe, ethical and trustworthy way. Above all, it is about how geriatronics can improve and support caregivers and the community around the care sector.
For this reason, a special panel discussion on the topic of “Robotics meets Ethics” was organized in collaboration with Caritas in 2024. Here, talk guests from the care sector exchanged views with robotics experts on the pressing issues of our time, which include human-robot interaction as well as the applicability of theories in practice. Another highlight of the event was the presentation of poster awards, which were endowed with 1,000 euros - a generous donation from the Friends of Geriatronics e.V. This was awarded to the work submitted by young researchers, who presented their work to the conference guests and contributed to the discussion.
In addition to the specialist congress, various companies from the technology sector presented their work during the two days and were available to all interested parties for in-depth discussions during the breaks. In this way, the organizers succeeded in bringing together scientific research and industrial applicability.
