Open door day at the Geriatronics Research Center 2026
On Friday, November 20, 2026, the TUM Geriatronics Research Center on the Garmisch-Partenkirchen campus will once again open its doors to the public. Visitors are cordially invited to gain insight into our research on AI-supported robotics for care and health and to experience the latest developments firsthand. Through familiar formats such as guided tours of our laboratories and demonstrations of our assistive systems, we will show how intelligent technologies can help support independence and quality of life in older age. As always, a special highlight will be our assistive robot GARMI, which visitors will be able to see in action and interact with.
New Location – New Opportunities
For the first time, this year’s open house will not be held on Bahnhofstraße, but at our new facility at Breitenauer Straße 1a. Since moving there last year, we have had significantly more space available for research and development, including state-of-the-art laboratories, a robotics facility, and realistic test apartments where everyday situations can be studied under real-world conditions.
Insights into Research and Practice
Visitors will once again have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes and speak directly with researchers. In addition to demonstrations in the robot factory and lab tours, we’ll offer insights into current projects in AI, robotics, and digital assistance systems for the future of care.
There will also be hands-on activities for families and children, where they can gain their first experiences with robotics in a playful way.
