Insights into technologies for the future of care

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, February 23rd 2026 - this time, the Geriatronics Research Center of the Technical University of Munich in Garmisch-Partenkirchen had the honor of welcoming representatives from the Nursing Department of the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Nursing, and Prevention.
Together with our partners from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Campus - LongLeif and Caritas - we provided insights into our current research, projects, and the current planning status of the campus.
As part of a tour of the research center with insights into our test apartments, various live demonstrations were also carried out. The exosuits, which were tried out by numerous visitors on site, aroused particular interest. Afterwards, a model apartment was presented at the LongLeif premises, which illustrates in a practical way how technology-supported living concepts can promote independence, safety, and quality of life in one's own home.
The focus was always on one central question:
How can robotics, assistance systems, and digital technologies provide concrete support to older people and caregivers?
The exchange once again demonstrated how important the close integration of research, teaching, and nursing practice is - especially with regard to the emerging campus in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
We would like to thank all visitors for the valuable dialogue and their great interest in our work.
