Developed for use in care settings, the new Garmi focuses on practical assistance and reliable interaction. Its mobile base, sensing capabilities, and manipulation functions are designed to support everyday tasks in nursing environments and reduce physical and cognitive strain for care staff.
The robot was presented at the Garmisch Research Centre during a visit by Bavaria’s Minister of State for Health, Care and Prevention, Judith Gerlach. The project builds on close collaboration between robotics, design, and healthcare research, with the aim of developing assistive systems that are usable, accepted, and safe in real-world care contexts.
